VIVOTIF® Text Reminder Program

Thank for your interest in the Emergent Text Reminder Program. This service makes it easy to take your Vivotif medication as prescribed.  When you sign up, you’ll receive an instant message with instructions on how to take your first dose. Then, over the next 7 days we’ll send 3 subsequent messages, each 48 hours apart, reminding you when to take your next dose.

This page features the answers to the most common questions about the service.

If your questions are not related to our text reminder service, please call (800) 533-5899 for customer care, or for medical inquiries, please call (888) 483-9053. If you experience any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

Question 1: How do I subscribe?

The easiest way to subscribe to receive your reminder messages is to go to your phone’s contacts and add our service (Emergent Reminders) as a contact. For our number, use 1-123-456-6789. Once you have added us as a contact, send us a text message that contains one word only, “Remind” (not case sensitive) for English reminders. For French reminders, send us the word “RemindFre (not case sensitive).

It is very important that you only send the word “remind” or “remindfre” and not something else as this is an automated service and your successful subscription is triggered by a specific keyword.

Remember to turn on your mobile data before you do, as our message includes an image as well as text.  You will receive your first message in a few seconds and your 3 subsequent reminder messages every 48 hoursover the following 7 days.

Question 2: How do I unsubscribe?

You can unsubscribe from the service at any time by replying to any of our messages with the word, “Stop” (not case sensitive).

Question 3: How much does the service cost?

The service is provided free as a courtesy. There is no charge short of what your mobile carrier charges to send and receive simple text messages and picture images (usually free).

Question 4: Is my phone number safe?

Yes. Your phone number is secured by 256 bit encryption and stored on a secure server.

Question 5: Will my phone number be sold or shared or used for marketing purposes?

No. Your phone number will never be sold or shared with anyone and is only used for the purpose to deliver our reminders. Once the final reminder has been sent, your phone number will be deleted.

Question 6: What happens to my phone number after all the reminders are sent?

Your phone number is deleted, and you will receive no other messages from us. No record of your number will be kept. It is only used for the purpose of sending your reminders.

Question 7: My phone was turned off and I missed one of the reminders and forgot to take my dose. When should I take my next dose?

If you forget to take a dose, you should talk to your healthcare provider about how long you have missed the recommended dosage regimen.

For any other enquiries, you may talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Alternatively, for Customer Care, call (800) 533-5899. For Medical inquiries, call (888) 483-9053.

Question 8: I haven’t received any reminders?

Please turn on your mobile data. Our messages include an image as well as text and you will need to have data turned on in order to receive them.

Question 9: I tried to subscribe, or I sent a message and I got a message that says, “Oops, something went wrong…”

This means the system doesn’t recognize your word as the one that triggers the subscription to our service. To subscribe, please send the word “remind” for English reminders or “remindfre” for French reminders (no quotes, not case sensitive, and no other words) to 1-123-456-6789. Remember that’s one word only: remind or remindfre.

If you have any other enquiries, you may talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Alternatively, for Customer Care, call (800) 533-5899. For Medical inquiries, call (888) 483-9053.

Question 10: Do I have to use the text reminders?

No. The service is entirely optional and provided as a courtesy.

Question 11: What do I need to know to take and store Vivoti properly?

Usual dose

A day should be selected to take the first capsule (Day 1). The second capsule should be taken on Day 3 (i.e., skip a day after the first capsule), the third capsule should be taken on Day 5 and the fourth capsule should be taken on Day 7.

The foil blister package containing the vaccine capsules should be inspected to ensure that the foil seal and the capsules are intact.

One capsule (each dose) should be swallowed approximately 1 hour before a meal, or two hours after a meal with cold or lukewarm water [temperature not to exceed body temperature, i.e. 37 °C (98.6 °F)]. The vaccine capsule should not be chewed or opened and should be swallowed as soon as possible after placing in the mouth.

How to Store Vivotif

Keep Vivotif out of the reach and sight of children.

Vivotif is not stable when exposed to room temperature. Vivotif should be stored at refrigerated temperatures between 35.6 °F and 46.4 °F (2 °C and 8 °C). Vaccine capsules should be stored between doses in the refrigerator. The vaccine may be out of refrigeration during a reasonable transit time home from the clinic. If the capsules are left outside of refrigeration at room temperature 77 °F (25 °C) for up to 12 hours on a one-time only occasion, the product quality will not be affected, and the capsules can still be taken. Each blister of vaccine shows an expiration date. This expiration date is valid only if the product has been maintained between 35.6 °F and 46.4 °F (2 °C and 8 °C). The product should be stored in a dry place and protected from light.
